Early Life and Education

Vahagn Khachatryan was born on April 22, 1959, in Sisian, Armenian SSR.

He excelled academically, earning a gold medal from Yerevan Secondary School No. 118 in 1976.

Khachatryan went on to study at the Yerevan Institute of National Economy (now the Armenian State University of Economics), graduating with an economist qualification in 1980.

Military Service and Career Beginnings

After graduating, Khachatryan served in the Soviet Army from 1980 to 1982. Upon his return, he worked as an economist and head of the economic research laboratory at the "Razdanmash" enterprise from 1982 to 1990.
